Social Media Ruining Minds
I am writing my rational argument on how social media ruins relationships. Beyond relationships, social media ruins your mind. I can whole heartedly admit that I, myself, am also addicted to social media. I spend every second of my free time on Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok. I feel like the majority of us can say that we have experienced this first hand.
I know a little girl who is 6 years old, and is already complaining that she doesn't want to eat because "the TikTok girls are skinny." Social media is ruining the world one person at a time. I know that personally, I have been a victim in social medias path. There has been days where I have cried for hours because I don't look like influencers who are living their best lives. This does not always have to be about looks, but about mindset too. I can say in full confidence that sometimes, the best part of my day is when I finished everything I need to do and can sit on my phone for a few hours. Social media has to be one of the leading causes of procrastination which leads to stress and failure in schooling.
If I could do anything in the world, I would make social media a healthier place. It can be so dark because what some people think is funny to post, can be so harmful. If an attractive person does a dance on a public account, they get praised and paid for their content. If a less attractive person posts the exact same video, they get hundreds of hate comments, terrible feedback from random people they've never even met, and in some cases, literal death threats over a dance video. If I wasn't so addicted to social media, I would delete all of it in a heart beat. I think we could fix this problem eventually, but it's going to take a long time and eventually it's going to become a massive movement.
